ARTIST STATEMENT
Winsome Spiller lives in Naarm / Melbourne, Australia. Her works span painting, installation
and objects. Experimenting with materials and processes is central to her practice. Her work
often concerns the urban environment, history, landscape and natural environment.
Winsome holds a Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours) from RMIT university and a Bachelor of
Town and Regional Planning from the University of Melbourne. She has exhibited since 2004
and her works are held in private collections and the collection of Artbank.

TITLE OF EXHIBITION
Archaeology of Practice 3
In Archaeology of practice Winsome Spiller presents a space where viewers can discover objects and structures made from remnants and fragments from her studio practice over thelast decade.  Like artifacts on an archaeological site, material clues to the artist's processesremain; including test objects, containers, dried paint, fabric and paper hangings, stencils,pigment encrusted plastic sheeting, old wooden stretchers and plaster tiles. Viewers can peepinto a small structure like a greenhouse, housing a collection of colourful paint objects andhanging forms. A long abstract painting reminiscent of a fresco or mural, hung along one wall, evokes a journey or map to an undisclosed region.
